About the work unit / facility:
The AAMHIU, co-located on The Townsville Hospital campus, is a modern 36 bed facility designed for persons requiring acute assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders. The unit has an eight bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and 28 beds Low Dependency Unit (LDU) in the open area of the unit. The unit also contains purpose-built therapy spaces including a sensory room, garden, gym, and activities room. The multidisciplinary team (MDT) comprises of administrative, nursing, medical, allied health and operational staff.

Competitive salary and benefits:
We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
- Salary range: $128,169 to $137,918 p.a. (HP4)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
About your opportunity:
Deliver high level mental health occupational therapy specific assessment, treatment, and interventions as part of the multidisciplinary team, on an individual and group basis, in a hospital setting to people experiencing acute psychiatric mental health symptoms, in accordance with professional standards and legislation consistent with the Better Care Together: A plan for Queensland's state-funded mental health, alcohol and other drug services to 2027 plan, The National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and the National Standards for Mental Health Services.
Requirements:
- Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration (if applicable)
- Possession of class C drivers' licence.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
