About the opportunity:
Rural Hospital Service Group is looking for Specialist General Practitioners and Rural generalists that are wanting to work within Rural Hospital settings and General Practices connected to the THHS to provide emergent cover or take up some shifts that are available within the variety of rural facilities within the THHS.
The role of the Senior Medical Officer (SMO) is to provide high quality general practice services including managing emergencies for consumers attending our Queensland health facilities at Level 1 to Level 3 CSCF Sites including:
- Level 1: Magnetic Island
- Level 2: Hughenden (MPHS) including primary care at Hughenden Surgery, Richmond (MPHS) Including Primary Care at Richmond Surgery, Palm Island (Joyce Palmer Health Service), Home Hill Hospital
- Level 3: Ingham, Ayr, Charters Towers
Successful applicants will become part of a casual pool that are communicated available upcoming shifts that cannot be filled by the onsite staff and then be able to take up work as their availabilities allow.
The work of the Medical Officer would be dependent on the location that they accept shifts for, and the sites are described below. Clinical Duties will be related to the ward, emergency department, or clinic at the sites they non-clinical duties include ensuring that mandatory training requirements are completed, supervising and teaching dependent on the sites.

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

- Casual rates: $110.54 to $161.87 p.h. (L13 - L27)
Requirements:
- Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration (if applicable).
- All applicants must be awarded SoCP by the THHS Credentialing and SoCP committee.
- Possession of class C drivers' licence.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
