Your new role:

As the Social Worker – Senior (Identified), you will play a key role in delivering culturally appropriate mental health and family intervention services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families within Child and Youth Mental Health Services. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, evidence-based care while contributing to service development, education and quality improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver comprehensive social work assessments, therapeutic family interventions and mental health clinical services.
  • Provide culturally safe care, advocacy and consultation to support positive outcomes for First Nations consumers and families.
  • Contribute to service improvement, quality initiatives, research activities and evidence-based practice development.

This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. Candidates not meeting this criteria will not be considered.

 

About you:

You are a compassionate and experienced Social Worker with strong clinical knowledge in child and youth mental health and a genuine commitment to culturally safe care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

You will demonstrate:

  • High-level clinical skills in social work, family intervention and mental health service delivery within complex environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams, families, stakeholders and community organisations.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, clinical risk and complex care planning with a high degree of independence.
  • Experience providing supervision, mentoring and support to clinicians, students or support staff.

About Metro South Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS)

Metro South Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) provide comprehensive support to the varying needs of infants, children, young people, and their carers/families across the care continuum including the perinatal period. Metro South CYMHS covers the Logan, Beaudesert, and Redland catchment areas, and provides support across hospital, specialist, and community settings, and it made up of 17 teams/units in total.
