Your Opportunity

As the Team Leader, Library Learning Services you will:

  • Provide leadership, management and coordination of library learning services, resources and collections that directly support teaching and delivery across TAFE Queensland.

This position reports to the Manager, Library Network.

This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity.

The primary location for this position is flexible, however you may be required to perform work at any TAFE Queensland campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety first, Working together, Focussing on our customers, Showing initiative and Taking responsibility.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the team by setting clear expectations, supporting cohesive team culture, fostering staff capability through coaching and guidance, ensuring positive leadership and direction.
  • Manage and evaluate library collections and learning services to align with TAFE Queensland teaching and learning priorities and broader strategic direction, ensuring services remain responsive to organisational and student needs. 
  • Lead the development and delivery of an innovative, sustainable and strategically aligned library collection, ensuring it responds to evolving student and educator needs and delivers ongoing value to TAFE Queensland.
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve programs and practices that build student research skills and information literacy, driving student engagement, success and retention by supporting the development of high-quality TAFE Queensland product.
  • Develop, implement and review policies and practices for library and learning resources to ensure compliance with TAFE Queensland guidelines, and copyright and licensing requirements.   
  • Engage and build strong relationships with TAFE Queensland stakeholders to develop and deliver library services and resources that met the needs of students and teachers across all of TAFE Queensland.
  • Manage the Library Network’s collection budget Including analysing and reporting on collection expenditure and use.
  • Maintain awareness of academic library trends, training product and partnerships relevant to TAFE Queensland, ensuring services and resources remain aligned and responsive.

How you will be assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing library services and collection management practices including acquisition models and evaluation of resources to meet evolving user needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in the delivery of library services, actively fostering an inclusive and collaboration team culture with proven experience in building capability through mentoring and open communication.
  • Possess high level communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with stakeholders, co-designing services across a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and review policies, practices and frameworks aligned to organisational and regulatory requirements. 
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and lead change by analysing performance, monitoring services and resources and reporting outcomes.

Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Possession of a degree from a recognised tertiary institution, or a qualification in librarianship providing eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association. 
  • Skills in relevant library information technology.
