About the Team

The Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Liver Transplant (GHLT) at Queensland Children's Hospital, Brisbane provides statewide and/or specialist gastroenterology, hepatology and liver transplant services to Queensland, Northern New South Wales, and the Northern Territory. This Centre fosters a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and research, with special expertise in Neurogastroenterology/Motility, Inflammatory Bowel Disease/GI Mucosal Immunology, Hepatology/Liver Transplantation, Nutrition/Nutritional Rehabilitation, and diagnostic/therapeutic paediatric endoscopy. Trainees will be exposed to the full range of complex gastroenterological problems including complex nutritional requirement and patients on Home Parenteral Nutrition. Trainees have opportunity to perform endoscopies at 6 endoscopy sessions per week in addition to emergency procedures.

About the Role

There are 4 Paediatric Registrar (in the role of Paediatric Advanced Trainee Fellow) positions:

3 of these positions have been accredited for Core training (RACP-Paediatric Gastroenterology. All fellows will be appointed at 1 FTE, integrated into the unit, sharing on-call (1 in 4) and clinical duties across all specialist areas. Excellent opportunities exist for fellows to partake in departmental research activity and projects, including in their own time. Advanced Trainee Fellows would:

  • Deliver medical services through participation in clinical duties at fellow level and in accordance with the policies, practices and values of the Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service.
  • Demonstrate commitment to evidence-based practice, research and quality improvement activities, including undertaking clinical audits and clinical risk management activities.
  • Assist in the professional development of junior medical staff and the training of medical and allied health students.

Please note that there are 3 x full-time 12-month contracts available with a start date of 1 February 2027 to 6 February 2028.
