Your new role:
As a Nutrition Assistant, you will work closely with Dietitians, Food Services and clinical staff to support the delivery of patient-centred nutrition care across the hospital environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting patients with meal selections and ensuring choices align with prescribed therapeutic and texture-modified diets
- Managing bedside meal ordering using electronic meal and menu management systems
- Monitoring meal accuracy, allergen controls and dietary compliance to support patient safety
- Collaborating with Dietitians, Speech Pathologists, Nursing staff and Food Services to ensure high-quality nutrition care delivery

- Knowledge of nutrition principles and therapeutic diets, with the ability to support patient meal planning and nutrition-related tasks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, carers and multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
- A collaborative approach and commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and continuous learning

About the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics
The Nutrition and Dietetics team provides comprehensive clinical dietetic services for inpatients and outpatients within Bayside Health Service and works in collaboration with food services to ensure the provision of high-quality therapeutic patient-centred menus. The department is staffed with Dietitians, Dietitian Assistants and Nutrition Assistants.
