What's involved – The Central West Health Information Manager plays a critical role in the management of healthcare data and information. They are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient health information in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
The Health Information Manager (HIM) is considered as the authority in the following areas:
- Health Information Management, clinical coding, data analytics and information access.
- Develop, implement, maintain and review strategies to manage and continually improve administrative support function of the Medical Records Department whilst meeting the objectives of organisational requirements.
- Coordinate and advise the obligations and provisions of high-quality Right to Information and Information Privacy (RTI/IP) legislation and Administrative Access policy within the CWHHS.
- Provision of education to clinicians, to improve clinical documentation and coding quality.
- Collaborating with relevant Queensland Health and external personnel to ensure volume, type, quality, and complexity of patient care is accurately documented and reported. This can include but is not limited to the monitoring and auditing of coding of Hospital Acquired Complications (HACs) and Sub and Non-Acute Patients (SNAP).
