About the role

The Speech Pathologist – Advanced (Adult) is responsible for providing advanced level clinical speech pathology services and leadership.  This position is recognised as a key resource for advice and consultation. This position will be based at Redcliffe Hospital.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Provide advanced level knowledge, skills and contemporary clinical practice in speech pathology management of adult patients in the area of adult acute and procedural outpatient services to provide optimal patient outcomes, in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
  • Utilise evidence-based practice to apply knowledge and skills that facilitate novel, complex, critical discipline specific or multidisciplinary clinical decisions, with minimal clinical practice supervision.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills, knowledge and experience in leading and delivering diagnostic instrumental swallow assessment services, including Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and Videofluoroscopic Swallow Study services.
  • Provide advanced clinical leadership and expertise in the ICU environment, delivering advanced level care to complex ICU patients, including ventilated and non-ventilated tracheostomised patients.
