Speech Pathologist Senior Gen Paeds SOPD
South Brisbane
You will deliver high level speech pathology clinical services and provide day to day clinical supervision and support to less experienced speech pathologists. This position will primarily provide speech pathology assessment in the clinical areas of complex communication difficulties, with a specific focus on supporting diagnosis for children accessing QCH General Paediatrics services. This will include collaboration with psychology, nursing and medical colleagues to support specialist outpatient services.

About the Team
The Queensland Children's Hospital Speech Pathology team provides specialised service to children with complex medical conditions that impact on communication and feeding/swallowing difficulties.
About the Role
In this role you will coach and support others to deliver for children, young people and families (Leader of Others) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:
Clinical Practice
- Deliver high level speech pathology clinical services within a variety of caseloads in an acute hospital, rehabilitation or community setting in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards, with minimal direct clinical supervision.
- Exercise independent judgement and problem-solving skills, in matters beyond routine practice with infrequent clinical practice supervision.
- Apply professional judgement to a complex caseload, adapting routine clinical practice using valid and reliable evidence.
Communication/Team Participation
- Provide high level clinical advice regarding speech pathology service delivery to diverse stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively and effectively within a multidisciplinary team to empower families to understand their child and optimise their health and wellbeing by supporting their participation and engagement in the activities of their everyday life.
- Actively contribute to service and caseload management and planning within the team.
Leadership / Service Improvement
- Monitor and report on clinical practices and outcomes within clinical service area.
- Initiate quality, research and service improvement activities.
