Senior Project Officer

Reporting to the Principal Project Officer, Corporate Enterprise Solutions, Corporate Services Division, the Senior Project Office is responsible for ensuring that program and project activities are supported, planned, coordinated and delivered efficiently and effectively in accordance with strategic directions and operational priorities of the unit. The role is accountable for ensuring on-time, high quality Program/Project outputs and engagement together with alignment and compliance with organisational and departmental administrative and support policies and standards.

The role:
Key responsibilities:
- Support, plan and coordinate the delivery of specialised work packages involving IM/ICT, ensuring solutions delivered are responsive to customer needs and sustainable in an enterprise environment, with a focus on structured processes, reporting preparation, governance documentation and assurance readiness activities.
- Monitor and report on project performance against agreed criteria through monthly initiative reports.
- Undertake risk and issue identification, assessment and mitigation activities by ensuring risks and issues are documented, reviewed and escalated as appropriate.
- Ensure use of appropriate project management techniques, methodologies and tools in line with Queensland Health policy.
- Initiate, influence and maintain relationships with and between internal and external stakeholders, facilitates effective communications and fosters relationships through lessons learned, feedback mechanisms and management of expectations.
- Support the development of high-quality written papers and presentations as well as providing administrative support for the Program/Project Board.
Are you right for this role?
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Experience in an IM/ICT project environment, including planning, risk management, reporting, budgeting and project closure, and an ability to plan and coordinate the delivery of specialised work packages. (SFIA Skill: PRMG: Level 4)
- Knowledge and application of appropriate project management methodologies (preferably PRINCE2), and an ability to provide sound advice and recommendations on the use of appropriate project management techniques, methodologies and tools. (SFIA Skill: METL: Level 4)
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage one or more defined communication channels and/or stakeholder groups, and facilitate the business change decision-making processes, and the planning and implementation of change. (SFIA Skill: RLMT: Level 5)
- Proven effective consultation, facilitation, written and oral communication skills for use in a complex program/project environment. (NHS: Effective and strategic influencing)
- Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills and a proven ability to work in a team environment developing effective working relationships with team members. (NHS: Collaborative working)
