The purpose of this role is to provide microbiology and molecular diagnostic services through the analysis, verification and validation of patient specimens while contributing to quality laboratory operations and clinical service delivery.

 

What you'll do

In this role you will perform microbiology and molecular diagnostic testing including specimen processing, microscopy, culture interpretation and sensitivity testing, apply scientific judgement to result validation and clinical advice, contribute to quality assurance and accreditation activities, perform analyser maintenance and troubleshooting, support service improvement initiatives, contribute to scientific practices and protocols, provide training and supervision to staff, and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary laboratory team to ensure high-quality diagnostic outcomes.

 

About you

We are searching for someone who:

  • Holds a tertiary qualification in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
  • Has experience in microbiology and/or molecular diagnostic testing
  • Can apply scientific judgement and problem-solving skills effectively
  • Has strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Has experience working within quality and accreditation frameworks
  • Can participate in rotating shift work across a seven-day roster
