Your new role:

As a Senior Social Worker within the Vulnerable Patients Team, you will deliver high-level specialist child protection services across Princess Alexandra Hospital. Working within a highly skilled interprofessional team, you'll provide expert assessment, intervention, consultation and advocacy to support vulnerable children, young people and families.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver advanced child protection social work services within a complex hospital environment
  • Provide specialist consultation, safety planning and ongoing case management for patients with identified child protection concerns
  • Work collaboratively with Child Safety, Queensland Police, SCAN teams and external agencies
  • Lead and contribute to policy development, quality improvement and service innovation initiatives
  • Support a child safe organisational culture through education, clinical leadership and advocacy

About you:

You are an experienced and compassionate Social Worker with strong clinical judgement and a commitment to child safety and trauma-informed care. You thrive in complex clinical environments and are confident working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in child protection and complex social work practice
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and child protection frameworks
  • Excellent communication, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Experience providing supervision, mentoring and clinical education

About us:

Social workers are attached to a central Social Work Department with its own cost centre. The staff of almost 70 full time equivalents are allocated across six social work teams, namely: Cancer Services, Internal Medicine, Rehabilitation and Aged Care, Critical Care, Surgical, Chronic Disease & Illness, and Rehabilitation and Disability. A Domestic and Family Violence Co-ordinator, Child Protection Liaison Officer, Homeless Liaison Officer and Clinical Educator are located within the Social Work Department.
