Your new role:
As the Senior Director - Office of the Executive Director Medical Services, you will provide strategic leadership across medical workforce planning, governance and employment services for Metro South Health. Working closely with executive leaders, you will drive initiatives that strengthen workforce sustainability, support safe clinical practice and influence the future direction of medical services.
In this role you will:
- Lead the strategic planning and delivery of medical workforce initiatives that support sustainable healthcare services across Metro South Health.
- Provide expert advice to executive leaders on complex workforce, governance and organisational challenges.
- Oversee medical workforce employment, credentialing and compliance frameworks to ensure safe, high-quality and contemporary practices.
- Drive innovation, service improvement and key strategic projects that enhance workforce capability and future service delivery.
About you:
You are a strategic and influential leader with extensive experience operating at a senior or executive level. You bring strong commercial acumen, exceptional stakeholder management skills and the ability to navigate complex environments while delivering sustainable workforce outcomes.
You will bring:
- Proven experience leading workforce strategy, planning or organisational initiatives within a complex environment.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive outcomes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, supported by sound judgement and strategic thinking.
- A collaborative leadership style with a demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams through change and continuous improvement.

About the Office of the Executive Director of Medical Services
The focus of the Medical Employment and Workforce Planning team is to:
- Develop, implement and maintain effective engagement management procedures and processes for the management of medical employment engagements.
- Coordinate a fully integrated employment management cycle for SMOs and VMOs from commencement including the establishment and ongoing management of expectations.
- Coordinate and implement annual performance review strategies for all Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) and Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) employed by Metro South Hospital and Health Service.
- Report and analyse workforce trends for future workforce planning.
- Develop and deliver a medical workforce planning strategy for medical officers across Metro South Health that includes education, training and development opportunities for medical staff.
