Role details
The Peer Workforce team at the Mackay Community Health Centre is seeking applications for a Peer Worker to join their team on a permanent basis.
Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be a person with a lived experience of mental issues, substance use and recovery. Experience accessing Mental Health or Alcohol and other Drugs services as a client (public, private or primary care)

Your opportunity
- Utilise a lived experience of mental health issues, substance use and recovery to assist clients to work towards achieving their best outcomes and to support those providing clinical care to develop a better understanding of recovery-oriented care and the additional benefits that peer support can provide.
- Provide efficient, effective, ethical and confidential person centred, nonclinical peer support within the Mackay Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Division, across both community and inpatient settings.
- Work under direction to facilitate the delivery of peer support for clients of the Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs service.
About the Team
Division of Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs
The Division of Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs is comprised of eight clinical teams across the MHHS. The Mental Health Service is responsible for the provision of comprehensive, specialised mental health assessment and treatment services across the age-spectrum for people with severe and complex mental health problems. Our services aim to be consumer focused and recovery oriented and are provided in a variety of settings including community, an acute inpatient unit, hospitals and emergency departments.

Workforce Partnerships and Professional Development Team
Staff members of the Workforce Partnerships and Professional Development Team, work within a multi-disciplinary team framework to deliver high quality services safely and with a robust culture of continuing improvement.
