About the Team

The Child and Youth Community Health Service (CYCHS) Nurse Education team provides educational leadership- facilitating the ongoing education of nursing staff and the broader multidisciplinary team to meet clinical, organisational and professional needs. With a focus on best practice that meets current contemporary evidence-based standards, the Nurse Education team provide educational leadership in the design, implementation and assessment of education programs for Child and Youth Community Health (CYCH) services.


About the Role

The CYCHS Transition Support Program (TSP) supports Registered Nurses to transition to the Child Health Service, Ellen Barron Family Centre or the School Based Youth Health Service. The TSP candidates participate in a multi-modal program consisting of clinical placement, learning modules and study days over a 12-month period. The Nurse Educator is accountable at an advanced practice level for the design, implementation, assessment and evaluation of the Transition Support Program education program. This will include managing educational resources and providing nursing expertise related to educational issues in meeting the strategic priorities of Nursing Services within Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CHQHHS). The Nurse Educator leads and supports a culture of development and enquiry which actively encourages and facilitates clinical, professional and organisational learning within a Supported Practice Framework.

  • Advanced level of decision making in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Undertake operational leadership.
  • Work collectively to apply the principals of clinical governance.
  • Apply professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing and multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
  • Responsible for enacting strategies that support a work-based culture that promotes and supports education, learning, research and workforce development.
