Your new role:
As a Principal House Officer/Registrar within the Acute Surgical Unit, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care while working closely with experienced senior medical staff by:
- Managing surgical patients under the supervision of Senior Medical Officers and Consultants.
- Assessing, examining and treating patients, including arranging investigations and procedures.
- Maintaining accurate, comprehensive and timely medical documentation.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes.
- Participating in clinical meetings, audits, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Contributing to the education, supervision and support of junior medical staff.
- Engaging in ongoing postgraduate education, training and professional development.
About you:
You will be a motivated medical practitioner with a commitment to excellence in surgical care and a passion for continuous learning, with:
- MBBS (or equivalent) and current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills in General Surgery.
- Previous Surgical PHO or Registrar experience (highly desirable).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Well-developed time management, organisational and clinical decision-making abilities.
- A commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and evidence-based practice.
- The ability to mentor junior staff and contribute positively to team culture.
- A professional approach aligned with the values of integrity, respect, accountability and excellence.
