Temporary Full-Time Principal House Officer/Registrar opportunity (76 hours per fortnight) based at Logan Hospital, Meadowbrook, commencing 26 June 2026 through to 31 January 2027, providing high-quality care within the Acute Surgical Unit as part of Metro South Health's Surgical and Critical Care Services.

Your new role:

As a Principal House Officer/Registrar within the Acute Surgical Unit, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care while working closely with experienced senior medical staff by:

• Managing surgical patients under the supervision of Senior Medical Officers and Consultants.
• Assessing, examining and treating patients, including arranging investigations and procedures.
• Maintaining accurate, comprehensive and timely medical documentation.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes.
• Participating in clinical meetings, audits, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Contributing to the education, supervision and support of junior medical staff.
• Engaging in ongoing postgraduate education, training and professional development.

About you:

You will be a motivated medical practitioner with a commitment to excellence in surgical care and a passion for continuous learning, with:

• MBBS (or equivalent) and current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills in General Surgery.
• Previous Surgical PHO or Registrar experience (highly desirable).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Well-developed time management, organisational and clinical decision-making abilities.
• A commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and evidence-based practice.
• The ability to mentor junior staff and contribute positively to team culture.
• A professional approach aligned with the values of integrity, respect, accountability and excellence.
