About the work unit / facility

The Paediatric Cardiology Service at Townsville University Hospital, established in 2022, is part of the Queensland Paediatric Cardiac Service network. The service delivers inpatient and outpatient care, including fetal and rheumatic heart disease clinics, as well as outreach and telehealth services across Northern Queensland.

Providing specialist care to children and families, including those in rural, remote and First Nations communities, the team maintains strong links with Queensland Children's Hospital and actively contributes to statewide clinical, education and quality initiatives.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $133,848 to $154,749 p.a. (L4-L9)
  • Regional and rural attraction allowance

  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

About your opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to undertake advanced training in paediatric cardiology while delivering high quality specialist care to children and families across North Queensland. Based at Townsville University Hospital, the region's tertiary referral centre, you will gain broad clinical exposure in a dynamic and supportive environment.

As part of the Queensland Paediatric Cardiac Service, you will develop expertise across congenital and acquired heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, fetal cardiology, outreach services, and non invasive cardiac imaging. You will work closely with experienced consultant paediatric cardiologists and multidisciplinary teams across Townsville and the Queensland Children's Hospital.

This role offers a strong mix of clinical practice, education, research and quality improvement, providing an excellent foundation for your career in paediatric cardiology.

Requirements:

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognised by the Medical Board of Australia.
