Your new role:
As the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) for Ward 4D, you will work in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager to lead the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care within a specialist surgical environment. This role combines advanced clinical expertise with operational leadership, supporting nursing staff while ensuring excellent patient outcomes across a broad range of surgical specialties.
Ward 4D provides care to patients undergoing Upper Gastrointestinal, Soft Tissue and Melanoma, Breast and Endocrine, Ophthalmology and General Surgery procedures. You will play a key role in fostering a positive team culture, driving quality improvement initiatives, and supporting workforce development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff.
- Coordinate safe, high-quality patient care across the ward.
- Assist in the operational management of Ward 4D alongside the NUM.
- Monitor patient acuity and staffing requirements to optimise care delivery.
- Lead and contribute to quality improvement, clinical audits and service development initiatives.
About you:
You are an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for surgical nursing and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient care. You thrive in a leadership role, enjoy mentoring others, and can effectively balance clinical, operational and people-management responsibilities within a fast-paced healthcare environment.
You Will Bring
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
- Advanced clinical experience within an acute surgical nursing environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to support and inspire nursing teams.
- Strong clinical decision-making, problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
- Experience coordinating patient care and managing competing priorities.

Ward 4D provides access to a 28-bed acute surgical inpatient unit which includes sub specialties- Upper Gastrointestinal, Soft Tissue and Melanoma, Breast and Endocrine, Ophthalmology patients undergoing inpatient treatment.
