About the Team

STORK is a simulation outreach service for Children's Health Queensland with the mission “To ensure every sick child in Queensland receives optimal resuscitative care”.  We are a group of interprofessional educators who utilise a suite of ‘OPTIMUS' courses to provide structured training and quality improvement initiatives to paediatric healthcare providers throughout the state. 

In our first decade, the STORK team have delivered over 1800 face-to-face simulation education events to approximately 18,000 clinicians in 80 different hospitals around Queensland. Our online learning courses reach over 9000 learners each year and our on-line learning videos were viewed >100,000 times last year. 

Our fellowship program has attracted international interest, with previous fellows visiting from as far as Scotland and Canada.  Fellows receive the chance to work with a remarkable team of passionate educators and experience a dynamic, world leading model for regional education delivery.  This is a 0.5 FTE position and requires a shift based roster.


About the Role

STORK is Queensland Children's Hospital simulation outreach service. We deliver a curriculum of paediatric resuscitation training to hospitals and health services throughout the state of Queensland.

The position of Paediatric Advanced Trainee in the role of Simulation Fellow will:

  • Deliver paediatric resuscitation education to multidisciplinary teams throughout metropolitan and regional Queensland. 
  • Design, deliver and debrief simulations for educational and quality improvement processes.
  • Learn about simulation methodology through attending a 12-month structured fellowship curriculum facilitated by regional and international experts on healthcare simulation. 
  • Work collaboratively with simulation and clinical leaders within Children's Health Queensland to refine, develop or evaluate simulation enhanced projects for education or quality improvement. 
  • This position is accredited for 6 months training with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (6 months Special Skills Placement – Medical Education and/or Simulation).

This position is open to national and international candidates with clinical expertise in paediatric resuscitation.
