About the role

We value the lived experience and cultural knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates, and we encourage you to apply. We understand that cultural knowledge is a strength in this role and will support you in bringing your full self to the workplace.

Provide advanced clinical midwifery care within the Ngarrama Program at Redcliffe Hospital, delivering culturally safe, woman and baby-centred care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their families. This role focuses on walking alongside women and families throughout their maternity journey, supporting care across antenatal, birthing, and postnatal stages within a continuity of care model.

Working within a multidisciplinary and culturally responsive framework, you will partner closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and the broader healthcare team to support the cultural wellbeing, safety, and health outcomes of women, babies, and families. The role combines advanced clinical practice with leadership, education, and coordination, ensuring care is evidence-based, respectful, and responsive to community needs.

You will provide clinical leadership within maternity services, supporting and guiding midwives, nurses, and other staff in complex care situations. The role involves applying advanced clinical judgement, critical thinking, and coordination skills to manage a range of maternity presentations, while contributing to a positive practice environment and continuous improvement in care quality and safety.

This position also plays a key role in championing health equity and culturally safe practice, ensuring care delivery aligns with best practice principles and organisational priorities. You will contribute to education, service development, and strengthening culturally responsive maternity care pathways, supporting improved outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families.
