What your day could look like

As Assistant Coordinator, you'll play a meaningful role in strengthening culturally safe aged care across the region. From supporting Elders and their families to working alongside teams to improve service delivery, you'll help create better experiences and outcomes for the community.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Guiding culturally safe, people-centred care that respects identity, choice, and community connection
  • Building strong relationships with clients, families, and health partners to coordinate meaningful care pathways
  • Supporting assessments and care planning to ensure services reflect cultural needs and individual goals
  • Contributing to service improvements and staff capability that enhance quality and cultural responsiveness

Let's Talk About You

You're someone who leads with respect and purpose. You understand the importance of culturally safe care and bring compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation, and courage to everything you do. You build trust easily, communicate clearly, and take pride in supporting Elders to feel seen, heard, and valued. You're driven to make a lasting difference, not just meet expectations.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Strong knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and cultural perspectives
  • Ability to support care coordination, assessments, and person-centred planning
  • Confident communication and relationship-building across diverse stakeholders

You'll stand out from the crowd if you have a relevant qualification in aged care, disability, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and/or experience working in community or aged care settings.

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

Most importantly, you're passionate about improving care experiences for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and committed to creating meaningful, culturally safe outcomes that reflect the values of compassion, dignity, and respect.
