About the Team
The Queensland Children's Hospital (QCH) Operating Room Suite (ORS) is a fourteen (14) theatre suite, including a dedicated Cardiac Catheter Laboratory and Gastroenterology theatre. The ORS provides surgical services at Clinical Services Capability Framework (CSCF) Level 6 for children and young people from birth to 16 years of age (and up to 18 years for established paediatric patients) for a broad range of elective and emergency surgical patients. The ORS provides perioperative services for children with the highest level of risk and surgical complexity to patients from Queensland, northern New South Wales and Northern Territory. Our unit is a fast-paced environment, requiring collaboration between a broad range of multidisciplinary teams to provide exemplary perioperative care to patients and their families. Our team participate in a full roster, including shift length variations of up to ten hours across a 24/7 service. This may include the requirement to participate in on-call services.
About the Role
The Clinical Nurse (CN) Material Resources role (perioperative) provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of patients/residents/clients with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met. This role works autonomously within the Healthcare Team structure and is pivotal in the planning, managing and delivering of specialist paediatric perioperative nursing care within Plastic Surgery. The CN provides clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education and research. The role supports in management activities including portfolio responsibilities.
This position includes the overseeing the provision of materials and resources within the ORS environment and may extend to other specialties as required.

- Provides leadership in clinical decision making to give and/or coordinate care to particular patients.
- Assumes responsibility for professional leadership for a ward, service or unit in the absence of the Nurse Grade 7 (NG7).
- Applies critical thinking across all the domains.
