Townsville Hospital and Health Service are seeking an experienced and client focused Administration Officer (Mental Health Act Support) to join their Safety, Education, Risk and Quality Unit within Mental Health Services.

About the opportunity  

Provide administrative support to the Mental Health Act Advisor by entering data into the Consumer Integrated Mental Health Application (CIMHA)) ensuring data is entered accurately and uploaded into CIMHA.  Ensure the Administrative files are up to date and documents filed in accordance with legislative requirements. 

Assist in the coordination of Mental Health Review Tribunal hearings and Mental Health Court hearings across the Network, ensure clinical staff attend and reports are received and processed within the legislative timeframes. Provide advice and guidance to health professionals in the use of CIMHA and MHA2016 training programs.

Please note:  This is a permanent full-time role.  

Role requirements

  • All employees of the Mental Health Service Group may be required to work in other areas of the Service.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class “C” motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.

  • Salary range: $3038.50  - $3379.10 p.f. (AO3)
  • 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • Locality allowance
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to use excel, word, outlook, HBCIS, CIMHA and other electronic information systems.
  • Demonstrated advanced communication skills with a history of working within a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in accordance with strict timeframes within a legislative framework.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2016.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritise tasks and to accept non-routine tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as an important member of a multidisciplinary team, whilst maintaining confidentiality, with professional and administration staff, patients and members of the public.
