About the role

The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife who provides individualised quality Child Health Services to women, children and families antenatally, from birth to 12 years of age within the Ipswich Hospital and community setting across the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service. This role is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the unit and with other members of the health care team, including consumers/carers, other health professionals, general practitioners and other agencies (including non-Government agencies).

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Advanced clinical knowledge in the area of child and family health delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
  • Ability to role model excellent standards of comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care and documentation to facilitate quality patient outcomes, in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service and professional standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors and maintain a positive workplace culture through well developed consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to participate in the multidisciplinary team to identify areas for improvement in work practices and outcomes and contribute to the continued improvement of policies and procedures.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • Post-graduate qualification in Child Health is highly desirable, and at least 2 years' experience as a Registered Nurse/Midwife.
