About the role

Provide senior specialist medical services within the Department of Nuclear Medicine, PET and Theranostics at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, delivering high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic care within a leading tertiary environment. This role supports a comprehensive service encompassing PET/CT imaging, nuclear medicine procedures, and advanced theranostic treatments.

As a Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing and managing patients referred for nuclear medicine and PET procedures, including the administration and supervision of radiopharmaceuticals. You will provide expert interpretation and reporting of complex imaging studies, integrating findings from multimodality imaging to support accurate diagnosis and clinical decision-making.

The role includes active involvement in theranostics services, with opportunities to deliver treatments such as I-131 therapy and other targeted radiopharmaceutical therapies. You will participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, contributing specialist expertise to inform patient management and improve outcomes.

You will also play an important role in education, training, and research. This includes supervising and teaching registrars, trainees, and other healthcare professionals, as well as contributing to and initiating research programs aligned with departmental priorities. The position supports collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to advance clinical services and innovation within nuclear medicine.

  • Support teaching, supervision, and development of medical and multidisciplinary staff
  • Contribute to research, quality improvement, and service development initiatives
