About your opportunity

As a key member of the Townsville Mental Health Service Group, the Nurse Practitioner within the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Service (ATODS) delivers advanced, person-centred nursing care to individuals, families, and groups affected by substance use. This includes comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, evidence-based interventions, and therapeutic support aimed at reducing harm across diverse populations and cultural backgrounds within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

  • Salary range: $157,579 to $164,519 p.a. (Nurse Grade 8)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration

  • Qualification: Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner) or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in Mental Health and/or Alcohol and Other Drug would be well regarded.
  • Highly Desirable: Credentialed status (or willingness to undertake and complete requirements) with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses and/or Drug and Alcohol Nurses of Australasia (DANA).
  • Highly Desirable: Eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016.
  • Ongoing professional development relevant to the delivery of specialist Mental Health and AOD Services to maintain appropriate registration and/or association requirements is a requirement of all staff within the MHSG.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
  • Driver Licence: This position requires the applicant to possess an appropriate license to operate a Class C (car) motor vehicle.
