About us:

The Cardiac Investigations Unit (CIU) and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory (CCL) at Cairns Hospital provide tertiary cardiac services, including coronary intervention and specialised electrophysiology. Within a multidisciplinary team, the CIU delivers diagnostic and monitoring procedures such as echocardiography, stress testing, ECG monitoring, haemodynamic support, CIED procedures, and cardioversion. The EP laboratory provides advanced rhythm management, including device implantation, electrophysiology studies, and ablation, supported by 3D mapping technologies.

 

We are dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing of communities across Far North Queensland by delivering high-quality acute healthcare services.
 
About your role:
  • Provide advanced knowledge to monitor, evaluate and modify cardiac investigations techniques within the department in a mentoring and supervision capacity.
  • Participate in clinical research and professional development activities.
  • Deliver cardiac investigations services within well-established clinical protocols in the Cardiac Investigation Unit including but not limited to,12 lead Electrocardiographs, application and analysis of Holter and Event Monitors, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, Cardiac Exercise Stress Testing, haemodynamic monitoring during cardiac catheterisation, Echocardiography and CIED.
  • This role includes Emergency Clinical On call services for the Cardiac Catheterisations Lab and/or Echocardiography, and/or outreach services for CIED/Echo across the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Services and Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Services.
