About your opportunity:
The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate effective, coordinated and culturally capable services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women (and their families and carers) accessing maternity services through the Midwifery Group Practice at the Townsville University Hospital. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of Health Workers within the Midwifery Group Practice and Women's & Children's clinics. These roles are aligned to the Midwifery Community Access Program.
There are two fixed term temporary full-time positions available:
- Commencing ASAP to 04/10/2026, with the possibility of extension, not exceeding 2 years
- Commencing ASAP to 16/05/2027, with the possibility of extension, not exceeding 2 years
Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

Competitive salary and benefits:
We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
- Salary range: $77,342 to $106,358 p.a. (HWF3)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
Requirements:
- Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration (if applicable)
- Possession of class C drivers' licence.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted, including Blue Card checks.
