What your day could look like

As a Clinical Nurse – School Based Youth Health Nurse, you'll play a vital role in improving the health and wellbeing of young people across the Darling Downs. Working within school communities, you'll empower students to access care early, strengthen health literacy, and contribute to positive lifelong outcomes.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Providing confidential, youth-friendly health support that improves early intervention and wellbeing outcomes
  • Building strong partnerships with schools, families, and community services to coordinate care and support students holistically
  • Leading health promotion and education initiatives that strengthen resilience, awareness, and informed decision-making
  • Contributing clinical expertise and insights to enhance service delivery and support continuous improvement

You're a compassionate and confident nurse who connects easily with young people and creates safe, respectful spaces for them to seek support. You approach your work with integrity and curiosity, and you take pride in empowering others to make informed choices about their health. Whether you're supporting a student through a challenging time or collaborating with school staff, you bring courage, empathy and a genuine commitment to making a difference.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with relevant clinical experience
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with young people and stakeholders
  • Experience in health promotion, primary care, or community-based settings
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with sound clinical judgement

You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience working with adolescents in school or community settings and/or additional training in youth health, mental health, or public health.
