About the role
Support the strategic management of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems within the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, contributing to the safe and reliable operation of critical infrastructure that underpins patient care. This role focuses on assisting with electrical asset management, condition monitoring, and the provision of technical advice to support capital works, maintenance programs, and major redevelopment activities.
You will work closely with engineering and project teams to deliver technical input, undertake inspections and audits, and assist with system planning and testing activities, including emergency power systems. The role requires applying specialised electrical knowledge to support compliance, improve system reliability, and contribute to safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes across the hospital's engineering services.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provide technical support and advice for electrical infrastructure, projects, and asset management activities
- Assist with inspections, audits, and maintenance planning for HV and LV electrical systems
- Contribute to testing, fault identification, and system reliability improvements
- Work collaboratively with engineering teams and stakeholders to deliver project outcomes
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and organisational requirements
Mandatory Qualifications/Professional Registration/other Requirements
- A recognised Trade (Electrical Fitter/Mechanic) in Australia
- Current Queensland Electrical licence
- Current High Voltage Switching Qualification
- It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16):
- Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)
- Varicella (chicken pox)
- Pertussis (whooping cough)
- Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis
