About us:

Our Nursing and Midwifery Education and Research Unit supports excellence in patient care through the delivery of education, professional development, research, and clinical practice improvement initiatives for nursing and midwifery staff across the health service.

Led by the Nursing Director of Education and Research, the unit brings together a multidisciplinary team including Nurse Educators, Midwifery Educators, Clinical Nurse Consultants, Clinical Facilitators, Student Facilitators, the Transfusion Nurse, Librarians, and Administration staff. The unit also provides professional support and guidance to Nurse Educators working across Gladstone, Emerald, Aged Care, and Mental Health services, fostering a collaborative approach to workforce development and evidence-based practice.

About the role:

  • Support and guide Nursing and Midwifery students throughout their clinical placements, creating positive and engaging learning experiences in the workplace.
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate evidence-based clinical education programs that build student capability, confidence, and readiness for practice.
  • Foster a culture of learning, research, and continuous improvement by participating in quality initiatives and promoting evidence-based practice.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship through effective communication, emotional intelligence, and strong partnerships with students, clinicians, and education providers.
  • Contribute to improved clinical practice and patient outcomes by leading education initiatives, supporting change management, and assisting with policy and procedure development.

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent qualification) are essential.
  • Ability to mentor, support, and guide students and staff, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Experience assessing learning needs, developing education strategies, and evaluating outcomes to support clinical excellence.
  • Strong skills in creating evidence-based teaching resources and applying contemporary education methods in practice.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and fostering a culture of learning and collaboration.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $139,293 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $57.48 - $61.55 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
