The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Speech Pathologist - Team Leader (Acute) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

 You will

  • Lead competency training and skill development in dysphagia and tracheostomy management
  • Coordinate a team of acute speech pathologists, operational and professionally
  • Problem solve urgent and emergent complex clinical issues.
  • Provide high quality clinical communication, swallowing and tracheostomy assessment and management

 About you
To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Tertiary degree in Speech Pathology
  • Eligibility for practicing membership to Speech Pathology Australia
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Driver Licence
  • Paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $144,991 - $151,289 per annum

About Us
Join a large, supportive speech pathology team within Gold Coast Health, leading the acute inpatient team. Gold Coast University Hospital has a large ICU and provides specialist acute services in the areas of neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, spinal injury and stroke. There are established videofluoroscopy (VFSS) and flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) clinics run by the Speech Pathology service. Benefits of working for the Gold Coast Health Speech Pathology Service include regular professional practice supervision in line with Speech Pathology Australia guidelines, and a fortnightly professional supervision program, incorporating clinical topics, journal club and mandatory training. The Gold Coast Health Speech Pathology Service has close links with Griffith University and there are various opportunities for staff to deliver clinical specialist lectures, assist with student training and to participate in clinical research which is embedded in service delivery.
