Ayr Health Service is a 28-bed facility located in the township of Ayr, in North Queensland. The Ayr Health Service offers general medical, surgical and obstetric services to Ayr, Home Hill and the broader Burdekin Shire.

About your opportunity

The Registered Nurse (RN) Midwife is a nurse who is licensed to practice nursing and midwifery without supervision and who assumes accountability and responsibility for their own actions and acts to rectify unsafe nursing and midwifery practice and/or professional conduct. The RN midwife provides direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients, clients, families and nursing staff within the unit to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $44.06 - $56.51 p.h. (Nurse Grade 5)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
  • Add in about flexible working arrangements if applicable to role or hiring manager

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration

  • Qualifications: Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
  • Nursing and Midwifery: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualifications and registrations with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of current practising certificates.
  • Highly regarded: Demonstrate clinical skills in IV cannulation, water immersion in labour and waterbirth, perineal suturing and speculum examination. If not competent in these skills, must be willing to undertake necessary training during the term of this employment.
  • Driver Licence: This position requires the applicant to possess an appropriate license to operate a Class C (car) motor vehicle.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
