Your Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and engaged Leader for our Vocational Placement Coordination (VPC) team who will lead the coordination of student placements, connecting learners with industry and ensuring all placements are safe, compliant and aligned to course requirements.
This position reports to the Manager, Student Management.
This is a Full-time, Temporary fixed-term opportunity, to 31 December 2028, unless otherwise determined.
The position will work primarily at our Southport and Ashmore campuses, however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
As a Team Leader within the Student and Faculty Support (SAFS) portfolio, you will effectivley support a SAFS Administrative team by undertaking the following responsibilities:
- Lead an administrative team through coordination of daily operations and staff support to effectively deliver on all administrative requirements.
- Monitor team workloads and ensure effective workflows and prioritisation, by providing effective staff supervision and responding appropriately to workload requirements.
- Assess key priorities and appropriately adjust the team’s activities to ensure they align with fluctuating operational requirements.
- Generate, understand and effectively communicate relevant reportable information to your supervisor and team to contribute to achieving required performance outcomes.
- Identify specific team training requirements, communicate team needs and coordinate relevant training and support to improve administrative processes and outcomes.
- Work with your supervisor to actively contribute to team performance improvement, to support and maintain a positive team culture and successful outcomes.
- Proactively undertake research and training & development, relating to maintaining or improving relevant administrative functions and service levels.
- Work with the relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the team’s administration activities are planned and implemented in a timely and measurable manner, to effectively deliver required outcomes, and are in accordance with relevant TAFE Queensland policies and procedures.
- Model and actively promote an ethical and safe work environment that supports a culture of zero harm and best practice regarding health, safety, wellness and sustainability.
How you will be assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who demonstrates the following key capabilities in relation to the position's key responsibilities:
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate the effectiveness administrative systems, processes, and performance indicators, to improve and implement efficient operations of a client focused administrative team.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, support and coordinate administrative staff to achieve identified outcomes in a responsive client focused manner.
- Well-developed digital skills to utilise multiple, current software packages and information systems, with demonstrated experience in their utilisation to coordinate administrative systems and processes.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience in establishing successful working relationships with staff, external clients, and management.
- Demonstrates the initiative, attitude, and ability to thrive within a dynamic, challenging and service focused, team environment.
Mandatory Qualifications & Requirements
There are no mandatory qualifications or requirements for this position. However, demonstrated experience across Vocational Placement Coordination activities and a strong understanding of the VET sector’s placement requirements, including associated challenges and the importance of positive outcomes, is highly desirable.
