The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Nurse Educator (Intensive Care Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Manage educational resources and provide nursing expertise related to educational issues
  • Coordinate and manage allocation for supported practice programs
  • Design, coordinate and evaluate the orientation and induction program for Intensive Care Unit
  • Lead and support a culture of development and enquiry which actively encourages and facilitates clinical, professional and organisational learning

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent part time (48 hours per fortnight)
  • Base salary ranging from $70.58 - $76.63 per hour

About Us
The Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service Adult Intensive Care Service has an Intensive Care Unit at both the Robina Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital. The larger unit at the GCUH is a 23-bed Intensive Care equivalent Intensive Care / High Dependency Unit averaging 90% occupancy and admitting over 2000 patients per year. This unit houses trauma beds aligned with a Level 1 Trauma Service, rooftop helipad providing rapid response and access to an Extra Corporeal Oxygenation Service.
As a Level 3 Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society / Level 6 Tertiary Unit, we provide an extensive tertiary service to the Gold Coast District of Queensland. The care of critically ill patients is complex and involves the collaborative effort of the multidisciplinary team who are highly specialised and skilled health care professionals.
