About us:
At the Perioperative Unit, you'll join a close-knit team dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality care before, during, and after surgery. Based in Block 7 of the West Wing at Gladstone Hospital, the unit includes two operating theatres and a procedure room, supporting a broad range of elective and emergency surgical services.
You'll have the opportunity to work across areas including Day Surgery, the Pre-Anaesthetic Clinic, and CSSD, gaining valuable experience in a varied and rewarding environment. About the role:
- Deliver safe, compassionate, person-centred nursing care throughout the patient journey, using comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation skills.
- Complete timely patient assessments and admissions, ensuring patients are prepared and supported for day surgery procedures.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to facilitate elective surgical care and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and support to Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, and Assistants in Nursing within the unit.
- Coordinate safe and efficient patient discharge, including post-operative assessments, discharge education (wound care, medications, follow-up appointments, and warning signs), and confirmation of patient/carer understanding.
About you:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and a commitment to maintaining professional competence and clinical expertise.
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care while taking accountability for clinical practice and patient outcomes.
- Support patient safety and quality improvement through adherence to policies, clinical guidelines, evidence-based practice, and incident management processes.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and provide education and support to patients, families, and carers.
- Demonstrate clinical leadership by coordinating care, promoting best-practice outcomes, and fostering collaborative, respectful teamwork.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $107,672 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $44.06 - $56.51 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
