About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Speech Pathologist seeking a diverse and rewarding role in a supportive rural healthcare environment. As part of the Rural Generalist Training Pathway, you will deliver high-quality speech pathology services across a broad range of paediatric and adult clinical areas, while developing advanced rural generalist skills through structured learning, mentoring and professional development opportunities.

Based in Mount Isa, you will work within a multidisciplinary team providing assessment, diagnosis, treatment and case management for patients across inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The role offers exposure to a wide variety of clinical presentations including communication, developmental, feeding and swallowing disorders, providing an exceptional foundation for both early career and developing clinicians.

  • Deliver comprehensive Speech Pathology services across paediatric and adult inpatient, outpatient and community-based settings.
  • Assess and manage a broad range of communication, developmental, feeding and swallowing disorders while working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, clinical education, service development and culturally responsive healthcare delivery across North West Queensland.

Working with us

  • Eligible health practitioners entitled to accrue an additional three days professional development leave per annum, resulting in a total of six days professional development leave per annum.
  • Eligible health practitioners working in designated remote areas will be entitled to a professional development allowance of $3,512.00 per annum.
  • Rural and Remote incentive: Category D allowance of $431.22 p.f.
  • Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.
  • Accommodation assistance provided.
  • Transfer and appointment expenses may be negotiated.

Requirements

  • The possession of a tertiary degree in Speech Pathology providing eligibility for practicing membership to Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Eligibility to enrol in an Approved Rural Generalist Education Program. Refer to the list of approved programs at https://www.health.qld.gov.au/ahwac/html/rural-remote
  • Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
  • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
  • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History/Blue Card checks.
  • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
  • A period of probation may apply.
