About the work unit / facility
Performance and Business Analytics delivers information and analytical solutions to support health service activity and operations. Working closely with the Funding and Costing team, the unit supports executive and service groups to make informed decisions.
Key functions include:
- Delivering performance reporting and insights to executive and service groups
- Providing business intelligence (BI) reporting on key performance indicators
- Developing and maintaining dashboards, databases and reporting tools to support operations
- Supporting benchmarking, accreditation and service improvement initiatives
- Responding to ad hoc data and reporting requests
- Providing analytics and information support for major transformation projects

- Salary range: $140,115 to $150,371 p.a. (AO7)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

About your opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Principal Business Analyst to join the Performance and Business Analytics team within Funding and Performance at Townsville Hospital and Health Service.
In this senior advisory role, you will provide expert analysis and insights to support and inform executive decision-making in a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment. You will lead a team of Business Informatics Specialists and Data Analysts, delivering high-quality analytics, reporting and performance intelligence to drive improved operational and business outcomes.
Working closely with the Director, Funding and Performance, you will apply advanced data analytics, reporting and business intelligence capabilities to deliver critical insights across health service activity and operations. You will play a key role in developing and delivering innovative reporting solutions, dashboards and analytical tools that enhance performance monitoring, financial intelligence and operational productivity.
This is a pivotal leadership role that combines strategic advice, technical expertise and team leadership to support evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement across the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.
Desirable skills and experience
- While not mandatory, relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience in Health Information Management, business informatics or reporting/analytics solutions will be highly regarded. Willingness to work towards a relevant qualification is also desirable.
- Experience with QlikTech and Microsoft tools (including SQL Server and Excel), as well as Queensland Health clinical and administrative information systems, including the Integrated Electronic Medical Record (ieMR), will be highly regarded.
