Senior Psychologist / Senior Social Worker (Youth)

About us:

Alcohol and Other Drugs Services (AODS) provides specialist support to people whose lives have been impacted by alcohol and drug use. Our service works with individuals and families at some of their most challenging and vulnerable times, offering a safe, non-judgemental environment focused on recovery, harm reduction, and improved wellbeing.

Our team also provides specialised support through youth and rural programs, hospital-based consultation and liaison services, emergency department interventions, opioid treatment programs, police and court diversion initiatives, needle and syringe programs, and community education. Every service is designed to meet people where they are in their journey and provide practical, compassionate support when it is needed most.

About the role:

  • Provide specialist alcohol and other drug assessment, treatment, case management, and therapeutic interventions for young people aged 12–25 years, as well as support for their families and carers.
  • Manage a complex caseload, applying advanced clinical judgement and evidence-based practice to deliver high-quality care and positive outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, external agencies, and community partners to ensure young people receive coordinated and holistic support.
  • Provide clinical leadership, expert advice, and professional supervision, contributing to the ongoing development of staff and the Youth AODS service.

About you:

  • Eligible for registration or membership as a Psychologist (AHPRA/PsyBA) or Social Worker (AASW), with relevant tertiary qualifications. Postgraduate qualifications in addiction or mental health are highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering specialist alcohol and other drug interventions for young people, with a strong understanding of the unique needs of adolescents, young adults, and their families.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage a complex clinical caseload, and provide high-quality, evidence-based assessment, treatment, and care planning.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, with experience contributing to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and the delivery of best-practice youth alcohol and other drug services.

What we offer:

Total monthly remuneration value of up to $13,113 p.m. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $64.64 - $69.55 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
