About your role
As an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Researcher, you will work within a high-performing Research and Education Team to deliver culturally appropriate, ethically sound and community-led research.
In this role, you will:
- Support the delivery of culturally safe and rigorous research projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community members and stakeholders.
- Assist with participant recruitment, data collection and reporting activities.
- Provide cultural advice and support to research teams and collaborators.
- Contribute to evidence-based approaches that benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
About you
You are passionate about improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and understand the importance of culturally safe, community-led research.
You will bring:
- Strong connections and relationship-building skills with community.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Research or project experience within health or community settings (highly desirable).
This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. Candidates not meeting this criteria will not be considered.

About the Research and Education Team, Southern Queensland Centre of Excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care
The Southern Queensland Centre of Excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (SQCOE) (also known as the Inala Indigenous Health Service) is a Queensland Health, Metro South Health service unit located in Inala, providing health related services at a community level.
Research has always been central to the SQCOE with the first research paper published by SQCOE researchers in 2000 (Hayman et al. 2000). Since then, approximately 100 research papers have reported on research conducted at the SQCOE or have been published by the SQCOE researchers, the majority of which has influenced SQCOE service delivery.
