Your new role:

As the Nurse Researcher, you'll provide advanced nursing leadership and lead the development, coordination and evaluation of research activities within the Emergency Department. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders, you'll help ensure research is translated into meaningful improvements in patient care, quality and safety.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate nursing research projects and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Translate research findings into evidence-based clinical practice.
  • Support strategic priorities aligned with patient safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, researchers, universities and key stakeholders.
  • Guide research governance processes, ethics submissions and funding opportunities.
  • Mentor and educate staff to build research capability across the workforce.

About you:

You're a collaborative and influential nursing professional with a passion for research and improving patient outcomes. You thrive in a dynamic environment, enjoy building capability in others, and have the expertise to translate evidence into practice while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

You'll bring:

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading or conducting clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced knowledge of contemporary research methodologies and evidence-based practice.
  • Strong understanding of research governance, ethics approval processes and Good Clinical Research Practice.
  • The ability to influence, mentor and develop others through education and leadership.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.

About us:

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a Level 6 major referral centre, offering tertiary referral service to Brisbane South and surrounding areas. All adult specialities are provided with the exception of obstetrics, gynaecological and burns services. The PAH Emergency Department (ED) is one of the largest adult teaching hospital Emergency Departments in Australia. The Emergency Department attends to over 70,000 patients each year and admits approximately 33% patients into the hospital for specialist care. Within the Emergency Department is a designated ED Mental Health assessment area and a Toxicology Unit.
