Your new role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to lead the delivery of specialised Cellular Therapy Laboratory services within a highly regarded tertiary healthcare environment. You will provide advanced clinical and operational leadership across a growing and innovative service supporting stem cell transplantation, CAR T-cell therapies and other cellular products, while driving excellence in quality, research and patient care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the delivery of specialised cellular therapy laboratory services, ensuring compliance with clinical, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Provide operational leadership, supervision and professional support to a team of Laboratory Scientists and Technicians.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, service development projects and innovative models of care.
- Oversee workforce planning, rostering, performance development and competency-based training programs.
- Contribute to research, education and evidence-based practice initiatives that influence service delivery and clinical outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to support strategic planning, governance and continuous service improvement.
About you:
You are an experienced and passionate Medical Laboratory Scientist with advanced expertise in cellular therapies and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred healthcare. You thrive in complex environments, enjoy leading teams and are motivated by opportunities to improve services through innovation, research and collaboration.
To be successful, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent) and a minimum of five years' relevant laboratory experience.
- Advanced knowledge of cellular therapy laboratory practices, quality systems and regulatory standards.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams, workloads, performance and service delivery outcomes.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead service improvement, quality assurance and research initiatives.
- Experience developing procedures, protocols, training programs and innovative laboratory practices.

Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) Division of Cancer Services is a highly developed, multidisciplinary service in one of Australia's largest teaching hospitals. The hospital provides a comprehensive adult cancer service encompassing haematological, surgical, and medical and radiation oncology specialities, including immunotherapy, cellular therapy (autologous stem cell transplantation and CAR-Tcell therapy).
