Operational Services Officer (Housekeeping)

As part of a dedicated team, you'll provide housekeeping, cleaning and waste management services across mental health facilities, maintaining high standards of hygiene, infection control and workplace safety. We're looking for someone who is reliable, organised, able to work independently and committed to delivering quality service with compassion and respect. About us:

Central Queensland Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (CQMHAODS) provides specialist mental health, alcohol and other drug support to communities across Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Central Highlands and Banana, serving a population of more than 250,000 people. Working with individuals experiencing complex and often vulnerable circumstances, the service delivers compassionate, recovery-focused care across inpatient, community and residential settings.

The Adult Community Service Team supports adults living with severe and persistent mental illness through assessment, case management, therapeutic interventions and coordinated care in both community and home environments. Working closely with inpatient services, acute care teams and community partners, the team plays a vital role in reducing the impact of mental illness, promoting recovery and helping consumers achieve meaningful outcomes in their everyday lives.

About the role:

  • Deliver high-quality housekeeping and cleaning services across Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs facilities, ensuring a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of consumer, staff and communal areas in accordance with Queensland Health standards and infection control requirements.
  • Collect, remove and manage waste safely and efficiently while following workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Use cleaning equipment, chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly to support a hygienic and safe workplace.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and consumers, contributing to the comfort, wellbeing and dignity of people accessing vulnerable health services.

About you:

What you will bring to our team to succeed:

  • Experience in housekeeping, cleaning or waste management, or the ability and willingness to learn.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and complete tasks within required timeframes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a respectful and professional approach to consumers and colleagues.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety and compliance with organisational policies and procedures.

What we offer:

  • An hourly rate between $40.22 - $42.91 p.h. (including 25% casual loading)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
