About us:
The Paediatric Department is a well-established and supportive service comprising experienced consultants, registrars, resident medical officers and interns, supported by dedicated nursing, midwifery and pharmacy teams.
Our department provides inpatient, outpatient and outreach services across the region, caring for children with a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions. Paediatric services include a Level 4 Special Care Nursery with respiratory support capabilities for newborns, as well as specialist outpatient clinics, including diabetes care.
About the role:
- Provide expert paediatric care across inpatient, outpatient and emergency settings, including management of complex neonatal cases within the Level 4 Special Care Nursery.
- Lead and support paediatric service delivery across Central Queensland, including outreach clinics to regional and rural communities and clinical support to other CQHHS facilities.
- Supervise, mentor and develop paediatric registrars, junior medical officers and medical students, contributing to a strong culture of learning and clinical excellence.
- Drive quality improvement, clinical governance and service development initiatives to ensure safe, contemporary and evidence-based paediatric care.
- Contribute specialist expertise in areas such as Developmental Paediatrics, Neonatology, Allergy or Respiratory Medicine, while actively participating in research, education and the consultant on-call roster.
About you:
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics and Child Health) (FRACP) or equivalent, with eligibility for specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Broad paediatric expertise across general paediatrics, neonatal care, outpatient and community services, with a commitment to delivering high-quality care in a regional setting.
- A passion for supporting diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, outreach services and child protection.
- Additional subspecialty expertise in areas such as Developmental Paediatrics, Neonatology, Diabetes, Allergy/Respiratory Medicine or Medical Education will be highly regarded and support the future growth of specialist paediatric services across Central Queensland.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $550,085 p.a. is comprised of:
- A salary rate between $$259,072 – $274,678 p.a. (L25–L27)
- A salary rate between $216,643 – $251,642 p.a. (L18–L24)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
