The purpose of this role is to provide advanced scientific expertise and leadership within the Autoimmune Immunobiology Laboratory, delivering high-quality autoimmune diagnostic services while supporting clinical excellence, research, quality improvement and continuous service development.

 

What you'll do

In this role you will perform and interpret complex autoimmune diagnostic testing, apply advanced scientific judgement to patient specimen analysis, contribute to research and service improvement initiatives, provide expert advice to clinicians and laboratory staff, develop clinical procedures and laboratory protocols, lead quality assurance and accreditation activities, supervise and mentor scientific and technical staff, participate in the after-hours on-call roster, and support the delivery of statewide immunology reference services.

 

About you

We are searching for someone who:

  • Holds a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent qualification
  • Has extensive experience in immunology, particularly autoimmune testing
  • Can apply advanced scientific judgement to complex diagnostic investigations
  • Has experience leading quality improvement and laboratory accreditation activities
  • Can provide leadership, mentoring and technical guidance to scientific teams
  • Has excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
