Adult Community Health provides timely and appropriate short term clinical services to high acuity patients with the aim to support safe and timely discharges and prevent avoidable hospitalisation. Our focus is on ensuring effective links with primary health care providers, maintaining independence and enhancing self-management of health conditions.

We're committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people in Far North Queensland by providing high quality acute health care services.

About your role:

  • Provide high–level Occupational Therapy clinical assessments, treatments and evaluations within a community service, demonstrating high level of problem solving skills. This includes providing brief intervention for post-acute episodes of care.
  • Undertake high level, independent acute clinical duties within the Adult Community Health Service with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision.
  • Apply professional judgement to a complex caseload adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence.
  • Provide professional supervision and facilitate university student clinical placements as appropriate.
  • Continue to develop professional skills and expertise and contribute to the education of other occupational therapists, multidisciplinary staff and students within the Adult Community Health setting.
