About us:

The Rockhampton Emergency Department is a vibrant, high-energy service at the heart of emergency care in Central Queensland. Caring for around 130 patients every day, the department provides expert treatment for adults and children with presentations ranging from minor injuries to major trauma and critical illness.

As the region's major referral centre, the team works alongside the Queensland Ambulance Service and Royal Flying Doctor Service to deliver lifesaving care. With dedicated resuscitation bays, a Short Stay Unit, fast-track services and a collaborative multidisciplinary team, no two days are ever the same.

About the role:

  • Support Registered Nurses to deliver safe, compassionate and person-centred care in a fast-paced Emergency Department.
  • Assist with patient care, including activities of daily living, complex behaviour monitoring and falls and pressure injury prevention.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the department through environmental resource management and delegated clinical responsibilities.
  • Build practical skills by completing Emergency Department-specific clinical competencies under the guidance of experienced nursing staff.
  • Support quality and safety initiatives by assisting with audits, documentation and delivering high standards of patient care.

About you:

  • Mandatory qualification/s: is undertaking or has completed, on a full-time basis, the second semester of the second year of a pre-registration university program or is undertaking the fourth semester of a second-year post-graduate pre-registration university program in a nursing or midwifery qualification approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia (NMBA).
  • Deliver safe, compassionate and person-centred care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, demonstrating honesty, respect and a positive team approach.
  • Be eager to learn, develop your clinical skills and apply your knowledge to achieve the best outcomes for patients.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $81,999 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $35.77 - $36.24 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
