About us:

Blackwater Hospital is located about 200km west of the Queensland coastline, in a close-knit rural community where care goes beyond the hospital walls and people genuinely look out for one another.

The Blackwater Multi-Purpose Health Service (MPHS) is a small 16-bed facility, including 4 aged care beds, and forms a trusted cornerstone of the community. It provides acute inpatient care, emergency and accident services, pharmacy support, outpatient clinics, and urgent radiology - delivered in a setting where patients are often neighbours, friends, and familiar faces.

About the role:

  • Provide safe, compassionate, person-centred nursing care to the Blackwater community across Emergency, Acute, and Residential Aged Care, often caring for familiar local faces in a small-town setting.
  • Use strong clinical judgement to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate care in a busy rural MPHS environment where no two days are the same and resources are broad but close to home.
  • Support and contribute to quality improvement, clinical governance, and safety initiatives that directly strengthen healthcare delivery in a rural service like Blackwater.
  • Grow your practice as part of a supportive rural team, building confidence and capability while stepping into varied clinical roles, including participation in the on-call roster and responding to the unique needs of a remote community.

About you:

  • Registered as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), with a commitment to delivering safe, accountable, person-centred care to the Blackwater community; postgraduate qualifications are welcomed and valued.
  • Provide high-quality direct nursing care across a rural MPHS setting, taking ownership of clinical practice and responding confidently to a wide range of patient needs.
  • Use evidence-based practice, strong clinical reasoning, and critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care in a fast-paced and often changing rural environment.
  • Demonstrate leadership, collaboration, and clear communication within a close multidisciplinary team.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $127,861 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $44.06 - $56.51 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading

Additional Benefits:

  • Ongoing Professional Development and Education Opportunities
  • Flexible Work-Life Balance and Variety
  • Relocation assistance, short term accommodation and visa sponsorship considered
