Role details
The Child Youth and Family Health team at the Carlyle Community Health Centre is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse Consultant to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (Child, Youth and Family Health) is an employee who is a Registered Nurse, and who:
- Is appointed to an advanced practice nursing position; and
- Demonstrates a specialised clinical expertise and/or specialised skill set.
- Support leadership and management to design and implement culturally appropriate and safe models of care for child, youth and family health services across the Mackay HHS district, including all rural sites, in line with the Putting Qld Kids First principles.
- Participate in the design, implementation and ongoing delivery of quality nursing, health worker and supportive health services.
- Implement and monitor the organisation's quality standards, work health and safety policies, procedures and programs and provide clinical governance in the relevant work area.
- Contribute to the development of administrative processes including referrals, ESM/iemr and bookings to support service flow.
- Refer to and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to support equity and access for families seeking child health services in regional, rural and remote areas of the Mackay HHS.
- Liaise/collaborate with leadership and management in the development of data reporting metrics to validate service delivery.
- Complete data collection tools/audits as part of core business, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of data/trends of concern to the Nurse Unit Manager, the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Women's Health.
- Support ongoing education and education tools, ensuring ongoing quality improvement through professional development.
- Provide advanced clinical expertise and care to children and families accessing child, youth and family health services.
- Provide leadership to effectively plan, manage and evaluate health services to achieve organisational goals across the service practicing in accordance with the National Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse and the National Competencies for the Specialist Paediatric and Child Health Nurse.
- The appointee may be required to travel to and from other health sites to deliver services.
About the Team
The Child Youth and Family Health (CYFH) unit is a primary multi-disciplinary health service which is part of the Mackay Hospital and Health Service. The unit provides services for clients 0-18 years of age and their families. The building is located at Carlyle Community Health Centre in Carlyle Street, Mackay. The service extends offering face to face appointments from Mackay to Sarina, Walkerston and areas of the Pioneer Valley and telehealth appointments for the wider Mackay HHS community. The unit offers client focused screening, monitoring, guidance and education along with appropriate referrals and early interventions. The service offers supports to the child sector within the Carlyle community health facility as well as offering outreach clinics and home visiting. The youth sector is supported within the public high school environments.
