Spiritual Care Coordinator

You will lead and coordinate the delivery of spiritual care within Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service facilities through provision of leadership for the spiritual care team inclusive of training, rostering, and onboarding of pastoral care and chaplaincy staff and identification and development of strategies that support the growth of inclusive multi-faith care services, that are patient and family centric, within a complex health care environment.

About the Team

The Social Work and Welfare Department at QCH is a dedicated, multidisciplinary team committed to supporting the psychosocial well-being of children, young people, and their families. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, our department provides compassionate, trauma-informed, person-centred care across various clinical settings, including Acute, Medical, Oncology, Child Protection, CHQ at Home, and Post-Trauma services.

About the Role

In this role you will deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and families (Leader of Self) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

  • Lead the provision of a Spiritual Care Services to deliver effective person-centred spiritual care aligned to the Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service values.
  • Provide guidance and advice for multi-faith services that support provision of compassionate spiritual care for families where indicated, at end of life, and following bereavement, in partnership with CHQ Palliative Care and Bereavement Services.
  • Coordinate and deliver culturally appropriate activities, within a 24-hour service, that meets the spiritual needs of the patients, families, and staff, including referrals to faith spiritual leaders across the breadth of faith traditions and cultural groups including multifaith and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Provide leadership, including implementation and evaluation of Spiritual Care programs, education, training, development and capacity building of service providers and staff.
  • Foster and advocate for a culture of compassionate Spiritual Care that embraces and includes individuals of all faiths and those without faith.
